Officials said the "targeted" shooting took place at around 8:19 a.m. on June 27 at a residence along Alphano Road in Independence. Police asked nearby residents to shelter in place while they searched for the suspect, later identified as Anthony J. Garvin. He was apprehended in Pennsylvania, and authorities continue to investigate.

The Warren County Prosecutor's Office charged Garvin, 34, with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
