Police Collect 150 Pounds of Unwanted Drugs in Medicine Take Back
The Drug Enforcement Administration works with law enforcement agencies across the country, including Hackettstown Police, to protect the public from the dangers of unused and expired medications.

Hackettstown Police says its Oct. 26 Drug Take Back Day was a success, netting 150 pounds of unwanted prescription medicines.
The police effort was part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back, medication disposal efforts that allow citizens to drop off unused, unwanted and expired over-the-counter and prescription medications with law enforcement officials for safe disposal by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
Drug disposal efforts are intended to protect public safety. When residents drop prescription and over-the-counter medications off at police stations, it helps to keep dangerous substances out of the hands of children, teens and vulnerable adults. It also ensures that the drugs don't end up in area landfills or in the public water supply.
