Robberies, Assaults Rise in Hackettstown in 2011
Non-violent crimes also increased, according to report.

The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Report showed the number of violent crimes reported in Hackettstown increased between 2010 and 2011.
Specifically, the number of robberies went for none in 2010 to seven in 2011. Aggravated assault cases also jumped from seven to 10 in 2011.
Non-violent crimes saw a slight jump, particularly in the area of burglaries. No murders, rapes or robberies were reported.

Hackettstown's overall Crime Index Total increased from 150 to 167.
The information collected by state police is based on a 2010 estimated population of 9,724 people and an area of 3.6 square miles. Hackettstown is classified as a "rural" community by state police.

The report also shows a three percent rise in overall crime, mostly in nonviolent crime, throughout the state. Nonviolent crimes are classified as burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft.
Violent crimes, classified as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, stayed the same statewide, according to New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa.
