Special September Election Could Change Mount Olive Elementary Schools
Vote set to offer full day Kindergarten in Mount Olive schools.

A special school district election will be held on September 27, 2016 in Mount Olive in order to determine whether the district schools offer a full day of kindergarten for students.
The plan was finalized by the Board of Education and accepted by the New Jersey Department of Education. Officials believe full-day kindergarten will prepare students better for elementary school, beginning with the first grade. A passing vote would also mean a more even distribution of students among the district's elementary schools and the construction of 14 additional classrooms at Sandshore Elementary Schools.
There are two propositions in the ballot related to the plan. The first proposition will authorize the district to add the 14 classrooms. Proposition #2 authorizes the district to include in its annual budget $808,000 in order to pay additional teaching staff. The plan will only roll into action if both propositions are accepted by voters.
