St. Mary's School to Close Next Month

School cites declining enrollment, loss of revenue as reasons to shut its doors.

This will be the last year students will attend St. Mary's School in Hackettstown as the school is planning to shut its doors next month, according to the Warren Reporter.

The Rev. David Pekola, of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, announced the closing on Wednesday. While the school, which currently has 152 students, already has 110 students registered for next year, Pekola told parents that a minimum of 200 students would need to have been enrolled next year for the school to survive financially.

St. Mary's, a K-8 school, is governed by the Diocese of Metuchen.
