Trooper Fatally Strikes Bicyclist In Hackettstown: AG

Officials said the trooper was in an unmarked police SUV, and collided with a male cyclist Monday morning.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Officials are investigating after a New Jersey State Police trooper collided with a bicyclist Monday morning in Hackettstown, causing fatal injuries.

According to the state Attorney General's Office, the crash took place around 6 a.m. on Willow Grove Street in the area of Brook Hollow Drive. The trooper was in an unmarked police SUV, and collided with an adult male cyclist.

First responders transported the man to Hackettstown Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m. Officials said that the circumstances leading to and surrounding the crash are under investigation at this time, and there is not much additional information available.
