HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The former home of the Newton Diner could get new life, and a jolt of nostalgia.
A developer wants to open a Nifty Fifty's restaurant at the site of the Haddon Township diner that shuttered 15 years ago after a fire destroyed it. The proposal is slated for a hearing July 10 at the township's Planning Board meeting, according to a public notice from the developer's attorney.
Nifty Fifty's has a handful of Philadelphia-area restaurants that take patrons back to mid-century America. The scratch-made menu includes burgers, fries, and a lengthy list of hand-spun milkshakes and old-school fountain sodas.
