HADDONFIELD, NJ — A renowned pizzeria with elaborate concoctions throughout its menu will permanently close.

Pizza Crime in Haddonfield will remain open through January before shuttering, the business said Monday on social media.

It's unclear what will come next for founder Arnab Maitra, who goes by "Chef Nab." But the announcement hinted that patrons haven't seen the last of him:

Pizza Crime, which touts pizza that "tastes so good it should be illegal," took root in summer 2018 at the Haddonfield Farmers' Market. Maitra had a booth with a green portable oven.

With the pizzas selling out each week, Maitra set his sights on developing a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Pizza Crime opened in 2020 in downtown Haddonfield, replacing Le Cafe Creperie, which his father owned.

The restaurant serves an array of specialty pies. NJ Advance Media named the "pepper Jawni" as New Jersey's best pizza — featuring pepperoni, fresh mozzarella and Sicilian oregano, with Calabrian chili recommended.

Pizza Crime is located at 139 Kings Hwy. E.
