Bond Referendum For Haddonfield Schools Getting Further Discussion

The school board will hold a special meeting next week to consider moving forward with a bond referendum.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield's Board of Education will hold a special meeting next week to discuss a planned bond referendum.

During Sept. 4's meeting, the board will consider moving forward with a bond referendum to improve Haddonfield School District facilities. The board expects to hold the referendum on Dec. 10, when Haddonfield residents can cast their votes on the initiative.

The board discussed the scope of proposals for all five of the district's schools during June's meeting, which is available on YouTube. The district developed a website for the bond referendum and will share more information after Sept. 4's meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Haddonfield Memorial High School library.

It will be discussed further at board meetings throughout September and October.

Under a bond referendum, voters decide whether the district can issue bonds to generate revenue for special projects. Typically, local taxes cover the entire cost of repairs and other facility upgrades. But a successful referendum allows the district to receive state funding for a portion of each approved project.
