HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Wednesday's concert at Haddon Lake Park has been postponed because of air-quality concerns linked to smoke from the Canadian wildfires.

The Sundown Music Series, which features outdoor concerts at the park, was originally set to begin June 7. The season's opening concert will instead take place at 7:30 p.m. June 14.

Officials from the Camden County government, which oversees the concert series, advised the public to take precautions. The county was under a Code Red Fine Particles Action Day Alert on Wednesday because of the eastern Canada fires, signifying that the air is unhealthy to breathe.

"In order to protect the health of our residents, we've decided to postpone the outdoor concert to next week when conditions are expected to be better," said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr.

The postponement doesn't impact the other concerts on the Sundown slate.

  • Avoid going outdoors as much as possible.
  • Avoid excessive activities outdoors, such as jogging or exercising.
  • If you have to go outdoors, wear a high-quality mask, like an N-95 or KN-95 mask.
  • Avoid areas of high congestion and where air pollution may be high, like main streets or highways, and areas with low air circulation.
  • Close all windows and doors to minimize air pollution in your home.
  • Recirculate the air in your home with fans to avoid bringing more air pollution into your home.
  • Pay attention to your body. If you're having trouble breathing, feeling nauseous, or feeling dizzy, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
