Chef's Choice: In the Kitchen Cooking School

Local chefs dish on signature dishes.

Take 10 steps into Kathy Gold’s on Mechanic Street in Haddonfield and a heavenly kitchen opens before your eyes. White, carrera marble countertops and a flawless stainless steel oven, range and vent hood gleam, while a petite, smart and sassy chef effervesces her way around the space.

At her cooking school, Gold offers a wide variety of classes. She said there is no “entrance exam, you just come in and cook,” and “Keep up!” she laughed. Her students come from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.

Gold teaches a 100-mile class that challenges cooks to cook foods from within 100 miles of home.
