Free Webinar Helps Families Tackle Back-to-School Anxiety in Children of all Ages

Vanessa Woods of the South Jersey Coping Clinic leads the panel

As the new school year approaches, many families are facing more than just supply lists and bus schedules—they’re confronting anxiety in their children. To support parents and caregivers during this transition, the South Jersey Coping Clinic is hosting a free webinar entitled “Back-to-School Anxiety: Helping Your Child Cope” on Wednesday, August 21 at noon. The event is free, but registration is required.

Led by Vanessa Woods, founder of the South Jersey Coping Clinic and a licensed clinical therapist, the webinar will offer practical strategies for managing common concerns including the following:

  • Anxiety about making friends
  • School refusal and avoidance
  • Emotional regulation tips for the first weeks of school

This virtual session is open to parents, guardians, educators, and caregivers of children from preschool through high school, and is designed to be an accessible community resource for families seeking guidance and tools to help their children feel confident and supported as they head back to class.

“Back to School woes are a signature symptom marking the end of summer. Kids and their parents start to think about scheduling challenges, academic struggles, the pressure of new classrooms, social dynamics, bullying, safety and the other unknowns,” said Woods. “This webinar is about helping families prepare emotionally—not just logistically—for the school year.”

The South Jersey Coping Clinic, with locations in Cherry Hill and Marlton, provides therapy and mental health support for children, adolescents, and families throughout the region. The clinic accepts most health insurance, HSA and FSA plans.
