South Jersey's Biggest Oktoberfest Postponed Due To Heavy Storms In Forecast
With heavy rain and strong gusts predicted, Oktoberfest on the Square has been pushed to a later date.
HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — South Jersey's biggest Oktoberfest celebration has been postponed because of the strong coastal storm projected for this weekend. Originally scheduled for this Saturday, Oktoberfest on the Square will take place Sept. 30 in Haddon Township.
The event will run from 12-10 p.m. at Haddon Square (51 Haddon Ave.).
Entering its sixth year, Oktoberfest on the Square is known as South Jersey's biggest celebration influenced by the annual German festival. The event is organized by Haddon Township eatery Keg & Kitchen and Brauhaus Schmitz, a beer hall in Philadelphia.

Oktoberfest on the Square features a 20,000-square-foot pop-up beer garden. Imported tables and benches, giant steins of beer, and a tent decorated in Bavarian blue and white will help bring the Munich festival's atmosphere to Haddon Square.
German beers will include Weihenstephaner Festbier, Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen and Spaten Oktoberfest.

Live music is scheduled from 2:30-10 p.m.
The event is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees pay for food and drinks. See the Facebook event here.
Forecasters, meanwhile, anticipate heavy rain, powerful winds and possible flooding from the coastal storm this weekend. The National Weather Service predicts 2-3 inches of rain in the Haddon Township area from Friday night through Sunday night, with peak gusts of 36 mph.

- Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. East wind 10 to 15 mph.
- Friday night: Rain likely, mainly after 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 58. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Saturday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 64. Breezy, with a northeast wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
- Saturday night: Rain. Low around 59. Breezy, with a northeast wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
- Sunday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 68. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
- Sunday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
