House Fire In Camden Co. Generates Massive Response

7 fire departments went to the scene, where heavy smoke and fire emerged from the second floor.

AUDUBON, NJ — A house fire was extinguished Monday morning in Audubon.

The fire emerged around 8:20 a.m. on the 200 block of Yale Road, with heavy smoke and flames showing from the second-floor rear and spreading along the balcony.

Firefighters from Audubon and surrounding communities contained the fire, preventing it from spreading through the rest of the house.

Photos posted by the Audubon Fire Department show damage along the rear of the second floor and roof and some smoke damage that spread to the first floor.

No injuries were reported, and there was no immediate word on the cause.

Responding fire departments also included Audubon Park, Bellmawr, Haddon Heights-Barrington, Mount Ephraim, Oaklyn and Westmont.

Haddon Heights Mayor Zachary Houck lauded firefighters for their response.

"With today’s winds this fire could have quickly gained headway and destroyed the entire house," Houck said. "I’m proud of the fire department we have and the incredible service they provide our community and our neighbors."
