Mary W. Parker, Former Haddonfield Resident, Dies at 91

Mary W. Parker(nee Webster), 91, died on July 3.

 “Molly,” as friends and family knew her, was born in Camden to parents E. Kessler Webster and Mary Porter Webster.  Her family moved to Haddonfield shortly thereafter and later to Haddon Heights. She was educated at Haddonfield and Moorestown Friends Schools.

Elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1942, she graduated from Duke University, Durham, NC, Magna Cum Laude in 1943.  She married Joseph R. Parker in 1948 and moved with him and their children to New Mexico in 1963, returning to Cherry Hill in 1999.  In 2009, the couple moved to Evanston, IL to be near her daughter and family. 

A lifelong Presbyterian, Molly served as an active member of Presbyterian Women, taught Sunday school for over 40 years, sang in the church choir, and became a church elder in New Mexico and New Jersey. She was a life-member of the American Association of University Women and actively served on local, state, and national AAUW committees.

Molly was a faithful and generous supporter of many environmental and humanitarian organizations throughout her long life.  She enjoyed travel, visiting over twenty foreign countries and many of our national parks and monuments.

Pre-deceased by her daughter Mary Stuart Parker in 1990, brothers E.K. Webster of Hellertown, PA, and Theodore L. Webster of Haddonfield, NJ, she is survived by her husband Joseph R. Parker; her sister Elizabeth W. Bolster of Richmond, VA; her daughter Kate and husband John Schneider of Evanston, IL; her son John and wife Laurie of Santa Fe, NM; her son Eric of Albuquerque, NM; and four granddaughters.
