Mega Millions Fever Strikes Haddonfield

Brisk sales for record jackpot at 7 Eleven.

They came with different strategies and different approaches.

Matt Lightcap, 51, a construction worker from Voorhees, said he bought about $130 worth of Mega Millions lottery tickets from "all over the state" by just after noon on Friday. But that didn't stop him from heading into the 7 Eleven on Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield to buy 30 more.

"I do the quick picks," he said with a grin. "I've been all over today. I was up in Toms River and down in AC. I always feel lucky."

Lightcap was part of the nationwide frenzy surrounding the estimated $540 million record jackpot for the multi-state . He wasn't alone.

"I bought tickets because my daughter told me too," said Bill Tambussi, an attorney from Haddon Heights. "It's exciting being part of something really big like this."

Rick Hansen, 54, who works at the Haddonfield post office, showed off $5 worth of quick picks as he left the 7 Eleven. He said he had no strategy or favorite numbers. He just wanted in on the action.

"If you don't play, you can't win," he said.
