NJ's 1st 'Baby Café' Opens In Camden, Supporting Breastfeeding Parents

A baby café​ is a free, drop-in support group designed to reduce barriers in lactation care.

CAMDEN, NJ — New Jersey's first "baby café" opened Thursday in Camden, providing resources and support for breastfeeding parents.

The Cooper Camden Baby Café (CCBC) will operate Thursday afternoons at the Camden County Library's Ferry Avenue branch.

A baby café is a free, drop-in support group that connects breastfeeding parents. Baby Café USA, a national nonprofit, designed them to help reduce barriers in lactation care.

The CCBC will operate from 12-2 p.m. on Thursdays. Sindy Ferreira, an international board-certified lactation consultant, will lead the initiative that provides free, one-on-one feeding support.

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University is leading the local initiative.
