Report: Ousted 'Idol' Star Late for Gloucester Twp. Court Appearance

Fox 29 reports Pine Hill's Jermaine Jones, who was booted from "American Idol" last month, was nearly an hour late for a court appearance this afternoon.

A former American Idol star from South Jersey may be in more hot water after he showed up nearly an hour late for a court appearance in Gloucester Township.

Fox 29 News reports that Jermaine Jones, of Pine Hill, showed up for a court appearance scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday about 45 minutes late.

Jones was kicked off Idol in mid-March after the show's producers accused him of withholding information about run-ins with police, including two incidents involving Gloucester Township Police, and outstanding warrants.

Jones was a passenger in a car pulled over and told police his name was Kareem Watkins in a November 2011 incident in Gloucester Township, TMZ reported at the time. Township police confirmed that information, saying the arrest occurred on Hickstown Road, but did not disclose the name Jones allegedly provided investigating officers.

Gloucester Township Police also said in March that Jones provided officers with a fake name, and was arrested on related charges, earlier in 2011.

Police encountered Jermaine Jones after being summoned to Howard Johnson Express Inn, on Black Horse Pike in the township's Blackwood section, on a report of a disturbance early the morning of March 5.

Fox 29 News sent a crew to the municipal court for Jones' appearance on Tuesday.
