Stonehenge, Eiffel Tower, Middle Schoolers' Summer
The group of Haddonfield students were ambassadors with People to People.
Submitted by Dennis Tully:
When teachers ask “What did you do this summer?” four students at Haddonfield Middle School will have a great response.
They were U.S. Student Ambassadors, traveling to England and France for two weeks with People to People. Haddonfield 6th-graders Will Tully and Tristan Laperriere joined Haddonfield 7th-graders Devi Bass and Evie Jensen, traveling abroad with other delegates from New Jersey, New York and Delaware. Beginning with the London Eye and ending in EuroDisney in Paris, the students were lucky enough to gain both educational experiences as well as have some summer fun. They met with members of Parliament, visited Stonehenge, traveled to the beaches of Normandy, the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, and numerous other cultural sites throughout the two countries.
People to People is a national organization, dating back to 1956. It was the vision of President Dwight Eisenhower to create world peace, and start a global movement of cultural knowledge and acceptance. The program is designed for students, grades 5 through 12, and provides international travel to gain awareness of other cultures.
