Tax Increase Part Of Haddonfield School District 2022-23 Budget
The district's budget for the school year 2022-23 totals more than $47 million, according to the district.
HADDONFIELD, NJ — A tax increase of 1.27 percent was part of the Haddonfield School District budget that was adopted on April 28, the school district said.
Thus, a Haddonfield School District taxpayer whose home was assessed at $516,000 can expect a tax increase of about $150 for the 2022-23 school year, according to Michael Catalano, the district's business administrator.
Getting enough funds while keeping the taxes as low as possible involved "pulling about a quarter-million dollars from other places," said Superintendent Charles Klaus.

"That's not a practice we want to continue," Klaus said. "We hope this time next year we won't be touching those things."
The Haddonfield School District's budget for the school year 2022-23 totals about $43,501,975. For 2021-2022, the total was $43,170,528, according to the district.

Some new items in the 2022-23 school budget included hiring an in-house behaviorist, replacing Chromebook laptops on a recurring basis, starting a new math program, replacing the stadium scoreboard, purchasing furniture for flexible learning spaces and writing some new curricula, Catalano said.
"[Spending] is getting tighter," Catalano added. "But we're still able to continue all the things that we are [currently] doing."
