Camden Co. Diner Damaged In Fire Has Update On Future Reopening

The diner, which has operated for more than 30 years, has been closed since a kitchen fire several months back.

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Westmont Diner, which has been closed since a fire in March, could reopen in a few months, the business announced on Monday.

The Haddon Township staple has been shut down since March 26, when a kitchen fire broke out overnight and damaged the restaurant.

But they could be back soon.

"We're working hard behind the scenes and are hopeful to be serving you again by late summer," the diner announced on its Facebook page. "Stay tuned—we'll continue sharing updates as we make progress. We can't wait to welcome you back!"

Nobody was hurt in the fire, which emerged while the diner was closed.

Hours later, the restaurant's owners felt optimistic that the diner might reopen a few weeks later. But after further assessment of the damages, that timeline extended to 3 to 6 months.
