Care on the Corner (COTC) is excited to offer a NewARTS Kids Workshop as part of a COTC Summer of ARTS. This program is for children ages 5 through 11 and begins on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Under the direction of Debra M. Cook, art students will develop their knowledge of artist skills using a variety of visual arts media while drawing and painting on t-shirts, creating cartoon characters in their own sketch books which they will bring home, and working with glow in the dark paints along with colored pencils. NewARTS aims to inspire creativity with new mediums each week!
The classes meet on Tuesday, August 6, Wednesday, August 7, and Thursday, August 8. Classes start at 10:00 am.

Debra M. Cook is returning to teach these classes. Debra has been teaching ART to children for over 25 years. Her classes are so much fun - making art, exploring new ideas, and being creative. She imparts this joy to her students as she introduces new concepts and project ideas. She works to help each student develop the artist within them. Together they work on developing an understanding of the elements of art and explore how they can be used with a variety of art media. Debra encourages the children to have a positive attitude and try their best. It is her hope that they will continue to develop this positive "can do" approach in all areas of their lives as they learn and grow, not only as artists, but as the wonderful people they were meant to be.
Debra M. Cook is a Fine Arts Instructor, Sacred Artist, Botanical Illustrator, Iconographer and Photographer.
