Armed Man Fled Police After Counterfeit Cash Use At American Dream: Cops
An armed man used counterfeit money at the East Rutherford mall and then fled from police into a marsh, police said.
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — An armed man who used counterfeit cash at a store in American Dream on Monday fled from police and was apprehended after a pursuit through the mall and the parking deck, New Jersey State Police spokesman Charles Marchan said.
Sequan Watts, 25, of Brooklyn, New York, was later arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, hindering, tampering with evidence and criminal mischief.
Police said that Watts discarded the handgun before entering the parking deck, and then exited the mall toward a marsh area near the Exit 16W ramp of the New Jersey Turnpike. He was captured, and then lodged at the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing, Marchan added.
