Care on the Corner: Summer of Arts

Care on the Corner is excited to announce a Summer of ARTS! starting on Wednesday, July 31th. In August, we will be offering a week of each: NewARTS, a Dance Workshop and Kids on the Corner.

NewARTS, under the direction of Debra M. Cook, begins with a workshop on July 31, where kids will build their own Magical Gardens. Then NewARTS will offer three classes on Tuesday, August 6, Wednesday, August 7, and Thursday, August 8. Five to eight-year-olds will meet from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Eight to eleven-year-olds will meet from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. Both groups will meet at the Care Center at 333 Franklin Ave., Hasbrouck Heights. The classes feature painting magical creatures on t-shirts, learning to draw cartoon characters in their own sketch books which the kids will be bring home, and painting with glow in the dark paints. There is an $80 fee for these classes.

The Dance Workshop will meet 10:00 am – 11:30 am on Monday, August 12 through Thursday, August 15 at the Parish Hall of Christ Church, 251 State Street, Hackensack. The workshop will be under the direction of Emily Beets. Emily comes to us from theatreMAMA, New York, NY. She has experience in teaching performing arts classes as well as dance. The kids, from 8-year-olds through 11-year-olds will learn a different style of dance each day. The fee for this workshop is $50.

Kids on the Corner Summer Theater Workshop, a Performing Arts Program, is for kids in grades 1 – 7. This session marks the 44th production of Kids on the Corner. The Performing Arts Workshop will meet Monday – Thursday, August 19 ­ through August 22 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Under the direction of Jennifer Ashline, the group will present Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Ghostbusters. All are welcome to come out and see the production on Thursday, August 22 at

7:00 pm. The group meets at the Care Center, 333 Franklin Ave. Hasbrouck Heights. There is a $50 fee for this workshop.
