Hasbrouck Heights Man Charged With Assault, Armed Robbery

A Hasbrouck Heights man was accused of deploying a chemical spray on a motorcyclist in an attempt to steal his bike Friday near Cycle Gear.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A 44-year-old Hasbrouck Heights man was accused of deploying a chemical spray on a motorcyclist and then knocking him off his bike in an armed robbery attempt Friday near Cycle Gear on 65 State Route 17, Hasbrouck Heights Police Sgt. John Behr said in a news release.

Jared Stun was accused by witnesses of spraying the chemical on the motorbike operator and others, and then seen climbing up the cliff behind the motorcycle shop. Police pursued him up the cliff, where other officers awaited him; Stun encountered the officers and began to resist arrest and pull away, Behr said.

Multiple victims sustained multiple injuries covering their bodies and injuries to their eyes from the chemical spray; two of the victims were taken to an area hospital, police said.

Stun was charged with carjacking, armed robbery, multiple counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, and was then remanded to Bergen County Jail, police said.
