Dozens Of Guns, Grenade Launcher, And Meth Found In Bergen Apartment: Prosecutor

Detectives found stolen handguns and rifles, drug paraphernalia, and crystal meth during a search of a Moonachie apartment, officials said.

MOONACHIE, NJ — A Bergen County man faces dozens of charges after detectives found drugs and stolen weapons in his apartment, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Officials arrested Abdel W. Shileh and two other men during a narcotics and firearm investigation in Moonachie last week, according to Musella.

Detectives found 18 stolen handguns, 12 stolen rifles, a stolen assault rifle, a stolen grenade launcher, drug paraphernalia, and crystal methamphetamine during a search of Shileh's apartment, Musella said.

Detectives saw Shileh, 36, meet with gun buyers at his apartment and his workplace on March 24, Musella said.

The detectives also searched Shileh's workplace and found two more stolen rifles and stolen sports memorabilia, according to Musella.

Shileh was charged with second-degree armed burglary; two counts of second-degree unlawful sale of a firearm; seventeen counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun; thirty counts of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose; second-degree possession of a destructive device for an unlawful purpose; second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm; third- degree burglary third-degree theft by unlawful taking; third-degree possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine; thirteen counts of third-degree unlawful possession of a rifle; eighteen counts of fourth-degree receiving stolen property;and fourth-degree unlawful sale of an extended ammunition magazine, Musella said.

Shileh was meeting with Turron K. Ward, 42, of Irvington and Michael Hayes, 41, of Jersey City, Musella said.

Officers stopped Ward's car and found two stolen handguns and a large capacity ammunition magazine in a hidden compartment after they got a warrant to search, Musella said.

Ward and Hayes were each charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun; two counts of third-degree receiving stolen property; and fourth-degree possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine, Musella said.

All three men are currently held in the Bergen County Jail, records show. Jail records list Shileh as a citizen of Palestine who was born in Jordan.
