Officers Shoot Man Holding Knife, Later Find 2 Dead People At Hillsborough Home
While performing a welfare check, Hillsborough officers were met with an man armed with a knife inside the home, according to SCPO.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Authorities are investigating a double homicide and a police-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday.
At 4:12 p.m. that day, Hillsborough Township Police got a request to conduct a check on the people inside a home on Cornell Trail. Officers tried to contact the residents with negative results. At around 6:24 p.m., officers were able to enter the home.
As officers were checking the second floor of the home, they encountered an adult man with a knife, according to the Attorney General’s Office .

A Hillsborough Township Police Officer fired his duty weapon and hit the man, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures on the man, who was taken to an area trauma center, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Two people — an adult man and an adult woman — were found within two separate bedrooms on the second floor of the home. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem examination is scheduled to be performed by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the victims and determine the cause and manner of
death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information will be available for release at this time. The officer-involved shooting investigation is being conducted by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
