E-Bike Battery Ignites Fire At Apartment In Somerset County: Police
Residents were treated by EMS for smoke inhalation on Saturday, said police.
MONTGOMERY, NJ — An electric bike(e-bike) battery sparked a fire in an apartment in Montgomery on Saturday.
On Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m., Montgomery Police, Montgomery Fire Company 2, Rocky Hill Fire Company and Montgomery EMS went to building 10 at the Princeton Garden Apartments on Blue Spring Road for a fire in an apartment.
The residents evacuated before first responders arrived and were treated by Montgomery EMS at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, said Montgomery Police Lt. Jason Larsen.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, preventing damage to adjoining apartments.
The initial investigation determined the fire started from a battery on an e-bike stored in the apartment, said Larsen.

The residents were relocated to another apartment in the complex. The Montgomery Township Fire Marshal is investigating.
