Fatally Shot Man Crashed Car Into Home In Somerset Co.: PD

Police say the man was behind the wheel when he was fatally shot, and kept driving until he crashed into a house.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Franklin Township man has died after he was shot while driving, and crashed his car into a township home, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

Dominic J. Frederick, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene following the late Saturday night shooting and crash near the Franklin Greens Apartments, Robertson said.

Police were called to the area around 11 p.m. after several residents called in a car crashed into a Foxwood Drive home. Frederick was found unconscious behind the wheel; while trying to help him, police realized he had been shot and was already dead, Robertson said.

According to police, Frederick was shot while behind the wheel of the car and continued to drive after being shot, until he crashed into the home. Other passengers were in the car at the time of the shooting and crash, but they were not injured, Robertson said. Their identities are not being released at this time.
