HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Mayor John Ciccarelli recognized Pride Month in June with a proclamation at the May 27 Township Committee meeting.

June was designated Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Riots which occurred in June of 1969 and are generally recognized as the catalyst of the LGBTQ+ Rights movement.

"Hillsborough Township is dedicated to fostering acceptance of all its citizens and preventing discrimination and bullying based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Our community is strengthened by and thrives upon the rich diversity of ethnic, cultural, racial, gender, and sexual identities of its residents, all of which contribute to the vibrant character of our Township," according to the proclamation.

"Hillsborough is a welcoming community and an exceptional place to live, learn, work, play, and raise a family; and the Hillsborough Township LGBTQ+ community is a vital part of all fields and professions and contributes to a stronger community," according to the proclamation.
