ICYMI: Hillsborough Hosting Flood Risk Open House
A public open house will be held at the Somerset County Training Academy Thursday, March 19.

A public Flood Risk Open House is scheduled to be held in Hillsborough today.
The open house will be held at the Somerset County Training Facility, located at 402 Roycefield Road in Hillsborough, on Thursday, March 19, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to Hillsborough Township.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II office release updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Somerset County. The maps identify areas that has flood risk in the county. Insurance companies use the FIRMs to determine flood insurance rates for buildings and their contents, and lenders utilize the information to determine floor insurance requirements, according to a release from Hillsborough Township.

Representatives from the State of New Jersey, Somerset County and FEMA will be attending the Flood Risk Open House and will be available to answer flood risk insurance questions. Additionally, Hillsborough Township’s Office of Emergency Management Director John Sheridan and a representative from the township’s engineering department will be available during the open house, the township said.
