Local Soccer Team Wins State Title

U11 soccer team tops Newark's IronBound for title.

The PDA Drogba U11 soccer team of players from Hillsborough and Somerset claimed the U11 NJ State Championship Sunday.  

The U11 team is based at Zaraphath and is a member of the Eastern Development Program Boys 1st Division. The team practices three times each week, and has compiled a 10-1 record. 

The State Cup Tournament began with 28 teams in contention—for the PDA Drogba to advance, they had to win five games. The team won the championship by beating IronBound SC, based in Newark, 3-0 in the finals. 

The PDA Drogba allowed only one goal the whole tournament. Keegan Shackford scored two goals and Donte East scored for PDA in the championship game. 

The team includes Christian Tyson, Matt Zyckowski, Aidan Lawlor, Dante East, Dillon Warren, Tristan Sampedro, Kenny Hot, David Tjan, Gavin Tabije, Zach Oliu, Adam Berrocal, Aidan Vecchio, Pierce Bateson, Ethan Wolkofsky, Eric Watt, Daniel Edelman and Keegan Shackford. Head Coach is Eric Ruano.
