Married Couple Beaten To Death In Hillsborough

A man armed with a knife was shot by two Hillsborough Police Officers at the scene.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A married couple was identified as the victims of a double homicide in Hillsborough on Sept. 25, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said Friday.

The victims were identified as David Lin, 69, and Jean Lin, 69, husband and wife, said McDonald.

"The cause of death for both victims was blunt force injuries to the head, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide," said McDonald.

On Sept. 25, at around 4:12 p.m., Hillsborough Township Police got a request to conduct a check on the residents of a home on Cornell Trail.

At the home officers confronted a man with a knife, and shot him, said McDonald.

Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures on the man, who was taken to an area trauma center, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

"The investigation, which remains ongoing, has yielded that the homicide deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Lin were an isolated incident and there are no threats to the public from this tragic incident," said McDonald.

No further information will be available for release at this time.

The officers involved shooting investigation is being conducted by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
