From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in Hillsborough.

Sports run deep in Hillsborough, and Hillsborough High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Raider uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Hillsborough High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
1. Shaun O’Hara — All-Pro Offensive Lineman & Super Bowl Champion (New York Giants)
An undrafted free agent in 2000, Hillsborough grad O’Hara found his way to the Giants and became a three-time Pro Bowler, All-Pro and Super Bowl Champion in the 2007 season. (Source: ScarletKnights.com)
2. Shawn Mayer — NFL Defensive Back & Super Bowl Champion (New England Patriots)
Another Raider who started as an undrafted free agent, Mayer signed with the Patriots in 2003. He was a member of the championship team in 2004. (Source: ESPN.com)

3. Richard ‘Ricky’ Proehl — NFL Wide Receiver & Two-Time Super Bowl Champion (St. Louis Rams & Indianapolis Colts)
Former Raider Proehl started his NFL career in 1990. His 17-year tenure as a wide receiver was highlighted by four Super Bowl appearances and two championships with the Rams and Colts. (Source: GoDeacs.com)
4. Julianna Mille — Cross-Country Distance Runner (Duke University)
A former Runner of the Year and All-State member, Miller continued the athletic success she achieved in Hillsborough at Duke University. She was honored as Freshman of the Year during her debut season and graduated in 2015. (GoDuke.com)

5. Yannick Smith — Former Professional Soccer Forward (Dayton Dutch Lions)
Smith, a 2008 Hillsborough graduate, played NCAA Division I soccer for Old Dominion University. He was selected by the Houston Dynamo in the 2013 Supplemental Draft before ultimately signing with Finnish soccer club Närpes Kraft. He ended his career with the Dayton Dutch Lions.
