Researcher Spots New Moths at Duke Farms Program

Rutgers researcher Elena Tartaglia said she saw two species she'd never seen before at last week's Moth Night.

Rutgers researcher Elena Tartaglia lives, loves and studies moths—in fact, her expertise was called on for an NPR broadcast Friday for National Moth Week.

Tartaglia was the featured guest on NPR's Science Friday last week, just after participating in Duke Farms' Moth Night, where participants enjoyed a nighttime walk on the paths learning about moths and, possibly, getting a closer look at some unusual species.

That's what happened for Tartaglia—during the program, she mentions seeing two species she'd never seen before at Thursday's event.

"I did a mothing program last night and I got to see tow species I'd never seen before and I got super excited about it," she told Science Friday guest host Flora Lichtman.
