Safety Concerns At Hillsborough Intersection Prompt New Traffic Light
"It is becoming a very dangerous intersection with the increased traffic," said Committeeman Shawn Lipani on Thursday.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A traffic light is being proposed to address safety concerns at a Hillsborough intersection.
On Thursday, the Township Committee approved a resolution to pay Pennoni Engineering $72,200 to provide design plans and specifications for a traffic light at the intersection of Camplain Road and Sunnymead Road.
Committeeman Shawn Lipani noted that the intersection is located near the entrance to Sunnymead Elementary School.

"School buses intersect there. It is becoming a very dangerous intersection with the increased traffic, so we feel that this is an important addition to that part of town for safety," said Lipani at the Committee meeting on Thursday night.
The Township previously received a grant for $375,000 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation(NJDOT) 2025 Local Freight Impact Fund Program to construct a traffic signal at Camplain/Sunnymead Roads.
