Sherrill Outperforms Ciattarelli In Somerset County: 2025 Governor Election

Here's a look at how people in Somerset County voted in the NJ gubernatorial race:

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Mikie Sherrill scored a victory in Somerset County during New Jersey’s 2025 governor election, unofficial results show.

Sherrill has been projected as the winner of New Jersey’s gubernatorial election. She faced challenges from Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican nominee, as well as third-party candidates Vic Kaplan (Libertarian Party) and Joanne Kuniansky (Socialist Workers Party).

Sherrill has gotten more than 1.79 million votes statewide. Ciattarelli has received more than 1.38 million, according to results from the Associated Press.

Although the results remain uncertified, Sherrill has claimed victory and Ciattarelli has conceded defeat. Read More: NJ Governor Election Results: Sherrill Wins, AP Says

With all 267 districts reported as of late Tuesday night, here are the local vote totals for the four gubernatorial candidates appearing on the ballot, according to the Somerset County Clerk’s Office:

  • Mikie Sherrill – 78,324
  • Jack Ciattarelli – 54,361
  • Vic Kaplan – 589
  • Joanne Kuniansky – 382

Voter turnout in Somerset County was nearly 52 percent, with 134,712 ballots cast out of 259,216 registered voters as of Wednesday morning.

The vote tallies, however, do not represent the final election outcome. Vote totals will remain unofficial until all mail-in and provisional ballots are counted. A final certification of votes will be on Nov. 19.
