Shoumik Is A 'Kind Inspiring Student: Hillsborough Star Student

We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts, or volunteer service. Here's one local who is making an impact in Hillsborough.

(Rebecca Barajas)

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Rebecca Barajas who nominated her student, Shoumik of Hillsborough, who is in fourth grade.

How do you know the star local student?

I am his REACH teacher

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Shoumik has always been a great student but this he is really shining. The students were introduced to Coding Legos without much prior knowledge. Shoumik not only spent time in class investigating how they worked but also spent his own time working with these kits. He figured out (by himself) how to turn the hub of the device to create a remote control using Bluetooth. He has become a leader and mentor to his peers and shares his knowledge with others. He continually challenges himself and his passion is contagious. He is now working with his classmates to build a Lego-based Rube Goldberg.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

That he is a kind inspiring student.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Shoumik 4th grade!
