Student's disappearance and death, home invasion, fire fatalities and more drew most readers in 2013.

It's been an incredible year in Hillsborough, with lots of good news and some not-to-good news. We checked back to see what stories you were most interested in for a look at the year's top stories:

Family Reports Body of Paige Aiello Found

The tragic story began April 9, when The College of New Jersey senior disappeared. She was last seen on the George Washington Bridge later that day, and while friends and family searched for her, no further clues were found until nearly a month later. 


Hammer-Wielding Man Invades Sunnymeade Home, Beats Residents

The two residents, an 80-year-old female and a 57-year-old male, were treated for injuries received in the Dec. 7 incident after escaping from a locked closet. The stunning incident led Crimestoppers to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man who also robbed and stole a vehicle from the residents.

Two Residents, Dog Killed in High Acre Drive Fire

Edward Kwiatek Jr. and Theresa Kwiatek died Dec. 5 after a fire in their High Acres Drive home. 

Fred Keiper, Longtime Teacher in Hillsborough Schools, Dies

The longtime coach and teacher in Hillsborough schools was fondly remembered by his former students and others in town after his death Oct. 27.

Attorney: Teacher Cleared to Return to Classroom

A move to remove Hillsborough High School teacher Jeffrey Kampf in March following complaints from a parent failed when students rallied to his cause. Though he was reinstated, Kampf retired shortly after the incident.
