Which Road in Hillsborough Needs a Speed Bump?

We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.

While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Hillsborough. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

  • "Bloomingdale. Parked cars get hit all the time because people go zooming down it and the road bends."
  • "Sunnymead."
  • "Though it's not a main road, HHS front entrance's road and it should be a one way."
  • "New Center."
  • "Township Line Rd - people really speed and it's quite dangerous."
  • "Farm Rd. Two people hit last month - cars fly around the two corners between Robin and Triangle. It's a main school bus stop, also...so many close calls daily."
  • "Van Bolton Rd. It is a through road from Beekman to the Rohill development. I tried years ago to get one but was told by the chief of police that they wouldn't do it because it can damage emergency vehicles."
  • "Pleasantview."
  • "Eves Drive - people go faster than the 15 mph speed limit (including the lots as people go faster than they should there, too) and use it as a cut through to avoid the light."
