YMCA Appoints Four to Board of Directors

Each will serve a three-year term.

The Somerset Valley YMCA has appointed four new members to the organization’s board of directors: Stephen Emr, Matt LaRoche, Keith Mantle and Robert Spitzer.

“Our new board members are all actively involved in the community and will bring enthusiasm and energy to their role”, said Paul Kieltyka, CEO.

Part of the board's job is to create or expand upon partnerships that will enable the Y to better address community needs and enable the organization to achieve its focus on social responsibility. Board members are appointed to three-year terms.

The board's job is also to ensure that the Y is in compliance with all legal and financial requirements, monitor the operations, and actively participate in all fundraising activities.

“They each share a passion for doing good and are excited to share their extensive knowledge to help us as we work towards developing new relationships and creating strategies to improve our overall impact,” Andrea Thorne, board chair, commented. 

The Somerset Valley YMCA operates facilities in , and Somerville.

The following are biographies of the four new members.

Stephen Emr – Was a founding member of Team Capital Bank, based in Somerville, and currently vice president. An active Somerville/Bridgewater Rotarian, Emr is also intimately familiar with the Y and its mission having just concluded two years as Strong Kids Campaign co-chair. He is from Mountain Lakes.

Keith Mantle – A resident of Warren, and though officially retired, he still serves as founder and president of Imagetek Process Automation, Inc. His professional career included accomplishments in software solutions and business process reengineering. He is an avid golfer and already involved as a member of the Hacker’s Open Golf Committee, which is now planning the 2012 golf fundraiser on May 11. 

Matt LaRoche – A clinical psychologist at Tri-County Care Management Organization, LaRoche provides a high level of patient and executive services through his position at case manager supervisor. LaRoche has taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University and has an array of academic publishing successes. He has a strong interest in identifying and understanding the benefits of shared services with other local non-profits. He is from Somerville.

Robert Spitzer – Residing in Somerset, Spitzer was past owner and operator of Minuteman Press. Previously he had an extensive career in television having produced, directed and/or managed programs from "The Ed Sullivan Show" to NBC to New Jersey Network. With a strong background in management, personnel and consulting, Spitzer has a wealth of experience and is already positively impacting the Hacker’s Open through the creation of new sponsor partnerships.
