2 Killed In Hudson County Crash After Police Tail Driver

A driver who was being followed by a police car in North Jersey fatally crashed into another car, state officials say.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Two drivers were killed in a crash in North Bergen on Sunday after one of them was followed by a police car, the state said on Monday.

Around 11:18 p.m. on Sunday, according to the state Attorney General's Office, a marked police car was following a driver on Tonnelle Avenue between 50th and 51st streets. The car that was being followed ended up colliding with another car on Tonnelle Avenue, said the state.

The two civilian drivers were seriously injured and later pronounced dead, officials said.

The state is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash, they said, and no other information is available at this time.
