Teen Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Pennsylvania Boy In Jersey City

A teen has been charged in the death of a 16-year-old who was found shot in a Jersey City apartment last week.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 17-year-old male was arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen in Jersey City last week, prosecutors said.

The suspect — whose name prosecutors will not release because he's a juvenile — was charged Wednesday with aggravated manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence, and two weapons possession charges, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

The victim, identified as Al-Jahmir Curry, 16, of Pennsylvania, was found by Jersey City police on Friday shortly after 5 p.m. inside an apartment on Rose Avenue.

He was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead just before 5:30 p.m., prosecutors said.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the upper body and the manner of
death to be homicide, prosecutors said.
