After Jumping in the Hudson, Man Gets Arrested for Disassembling Bikes

A 37-year-old Bayonne man was arrested on Monday morning, police said.

Hoboken police arrested a Bayonne man on Monday morning for taking bicycle parts from multiple bikes around the Hoboken Terminal, police said. 

The same man—37-year-old Anthony Severino from Bayonne—had to be rescued from the Hudson River Saturday night after , according to police. 

Severino seemed to be intoxicated or in an "altered mental state" when he was taken out of the river a little before 11 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Police came in contact with Severino again on Monday morning early, just after 3 a.m.

Around 3:15 a.m., he was arrested for taking parts of multiple bicycles in front of the Hoboken Terminal, police said.

An eye witness—who happened to be a police officer from Clifton—witnessed the incident and said he saw Severino take wheels and saddles from multiple bikes, according to reports. 

When police approached Severino, he allegedly said, "I always take stuff off the rusted bikes."

In total, Severino allegedly took two seats and three tires, police said, worth about $500. 

When Severino was taken to police headquarters, police discovered he had four outstanding warrants from several municipalities.
