Man Kicked Woman To The Ground In Hoboken, Police Say

A man was charged for kicking a woman to the ground in Hoboken, police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A man was arrested Saturday for kicking a woman to the ground in Hoboken, police said.

Yamel Acosta, 48, of Union City, was charged with simple assault, Hoboken police said.

Police said that just before 1:30 p.m., they responded to the 300 block of Garden Street on a report of an assault.

An on-scene investigation determined that Acosta had kicked the woman in the buttocks, causing her to fall to the ground. She declined medical attention.

The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded.

Police found Acosta nearby and arrested him. He was released on a summons, police said.

Reports on social media said the woman was walking with her toddler when she was attacked.

A public safety spokeswoman said, "Hoboken Police are working with the Jersey City Medical Center's Mobile Crisis Outreach Response Team, in an effort to provide Acosta with the appropriate resources."
