That’s a good start.
It also seems likely you’re interested in trying, or at least thinking about trying pottery.
Now we’re really humming.
When we opened our pottery studio, one of the first things we realized was how intimidated some people are by trying ceramics; people who saw fun videos on TikTok or wanted their own Ghost moment but felt like the tools and equipment were too daunting.
Our introductory classes were designed specifically to make newcomers feel comfortable, welcome, and capable. You might have a few people in your class who tried pottery in high school or have a bit more experience, but our instructors have a nearly flawless track record of sending first-time potters home having finished a piece they’re proud to call their own.
When you first arrive at our studio, you’re greeted by your instructor and guided to your wheel where all the equipment you need is prepared and ready for you. All our teachers have their own unique style, but regardless of who you’re with, they’ll check in about what kind of piece you’d like to make and begin walking the class through the various stages of throwing on the wheel. If you want complete ownership of your piece and only want verbal guidance, they’ll be able to help you that way. If you want to experience the process but care more about having a piece you’re in love with than one you’ve accomplished solely on your own, our instructors will gladly jump on your wheel and help guide your piece in the direction you’d like.
Did I mention all our intro classes are BYOB? Your hands may be muddy but your thirst will be quenched: we have plenty of plastic cups to make sure you’re not worried about dirtying your drinking glass, and if you ever need a hand refilling your drink one of our marvelous studio technicians are always glad to lend a hand.
If you’ve read this far and you’re getting excited, you can sign up for one of our intro classes here. They’re offered Thursdays through Sundays, and if you have a group of 6 or more you can reserve our event space and have the intro class experience with a private instructor and your group of friends or family!
We’re located at 720 Monroe Street at the Monroe Center, and we hope we’ll see you at the studio soon!
