Keep Boiling That Water, Hoboken Officials Say
After a contractor struck a water main, a "boil water" advisory continues in part of Hoboken Wednesday. Get the details below.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Days after Hoboken residents suffered from a major water main break, one part of town was put back under a "boil water" advisory on Monday night after a contractor struck a different main.
UPDATE: Late on Tuesday, the city said the advisory would continue: "Veolia water customers in parts of western Hoboken remain under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice. This includes both sides of all streets between, and including, Sixth and 10th Streets, and Adams Street to the western Hoboken border
"Drinking water distribution will end by 10 p.m. tonight and resume tomorrow morning at approzimately 8:30 a.m. Residents under the boil
water advisory may pick up drinking water provided by the City of Hoboken, at the outdoor plaza in front of 770 Jackson St. The water is meant for residents in the Boil Water Advisory area only. Please take what you need, as supplies are limited."

Veolia Water first issued the advisory around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, and said on Tuesday morning that it was still in effect.

The advisory affects a four-by-six block area of the mile-square city.
"Localized Boil Water Advisory Remains in Place for Area between 6th and 10th from Adams Street to Marshall Drive," the water company wrote on Tuesday morning, around 6 a.m. "Pressure fluctuations following a broken main at a construction site prompted the advisory."
The city of Hoboken had said a contractor doing construction on private property at Seventh and Madison streets had struck a 10-inch main.
Photos posted by Veolia on the internet showed a growing pool of water.
The area is on the west side of town, blocks from the 9th Street Light Rail station.
The city closed Seventh Street near Madison Street.
