City Council To Honor Buddy The Cake Boss
A proclamation will be given to the reality tv star during Wednesday's meeting
Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro will stop by Wednesday's City Council meeting to accept a proclamation, according to the Mayor's office.
Honoring Valastro was First Ward Councilwoman Theresa Castellano's idea. She said she wants to honor him for the economic stimulus his presence has brought to Hoboken. The Chamber of Commerce is also supporting the proclamation.
"He put us on the map in a real positive way," Castellano said. "Boy, did we need that."

Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo will present the proclamation together with Castellano, because Carlo's Bakery used to be in the third ward. (it's now in the first ward)
Castellano, who owns City Discount on Washington Street, said she has seen an uptake in business because of the many visitors Carlo's City Hall Cake Shop brings to town.

The other reason why Valastro is being honored, is to acknowledge the fact that the business is being run by a family.
"They fight," Castellano said, "but at night they sit down together for dinner."
Many out-of-state visitors aren't used to that, Castellano said. "I guess these people are used to chains and malls."
Valastro is scheduled to accept the proclamation Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.
