Parade Honors Back-to-Back State Champion Football Team

Hoboken will hold a parade Wednesday in honor of the Hoboken High School Redwings, back-to-back North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 champions.

The city will honor the back-to-back state champion Hoboken High School football team on Wednesday with a parade down Washington Street.

The Redwings used a last-minute Josh Mercado touchdown to squeak by Shabazz, 13-7, on Saturday, Dec. 7 and secure their second straight North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 Championship and 10th state championship in school history.

“Congratulations to Coach [Lou] Taglieri and the Redwings on their back-to-back championships,” Mayor Dawn Zimmer said in a statement. “I invite our community to come out and celebrate their great accomplishment.”

The parade Wednesday starts at 3 p.m. on 11th and Washington streets and processes south, concluding at City Hall.
