Doctor's Office 'Sad To Leave' Hoboken After 30 Years

A medical specialty practice closed in downtown Hoboken last month with little fanfare after more than 30 years.

HOBOKEN, NJ — An orthopedics medical office in Hoboken has closed its doors after more than 30 years in town.

An administrator for Garden State Orthopedics, which specializes in sports medicine, told Patch that they officially closed on Jan. 27.

The office, located on Newark Street around the corner from the train station, now has paper covering its windows.

The administrator said the lease was up for the office, and they couldn't stay or find a comparable location in the area.

"We have relocated to a state of the art facility in Iselin," he said, noting that patients can visit any of their offices, including in Clifton or Fair Lawn.

The new Iselin office opened on Monday at 75 Lincoln Highway, he said.

"We're excited to be there," he said. "It's going to be able to handle patients much more expeditiously. We look forward to seeing people at the new office."

The records from Hoboken are available electronically at any of their offices, he said.

He said there were a number of reasons they had to leave their space.

"We were having trouble finding a location in the geographic area," he said. "We searched long and hard. We were sad to leave the Hudson County region."

He also said the group was sad to leave Hoboken after more than 30 years.

Several other orthopedic practices and urgent care facilities with x-ray machines have opened in Hoboken and Jersey City in the last few years, including those affiliated with St. Barnabas and Englewood.

The offices of Garden State Orthopedics are located in Fair Lawn, Paramus, Clifton, Mahwah, and Iselin. Find out more here.
